Entrepreneurship and ObamaCare

An article by Micah Solomon, Contributor to Forbes on 9/24/2013 @ 9:02AM
I write/speak/consult on customer service and the customer experience

“If we want more entrepreneurship in America, the fastest way to get there is via the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) that’s currently being held hostage in Washington.”  To call the House’s effort not to fund ObamaCare as taking it hostage is hyperperbaly  of the highest magnitude.  I was held at gun point one time,  and actual hostage if you will, while my house was ransacked, and there is no compareances to the House fulfilling its Cobtitutional duty to fund or not fund the things that the government wants to spend money on, and having your life held to force another into compliance.

"And I’m tired of the health insurance discussion being hijacked on supposed business grounds by propagandists from the chambers of commerce with their inherent conflict of interest as hawkers of insurance themselves."  More hyperperbalyThe First Article of the U.S. Bill of Rights, states in part: “Congress shall make no law … abridging the right of the people … to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

"And by the suddenly-so-concerned-about-healthcare-costs extremist critics. And by the primitive scare tactics of the people who think any kind of safety net (incl. social security) equates with socialism — whatever they picture “socialism” as."  This is not a sudden concern, I keep a picture of the signing of the Social Security Bill into Law hanging in my study to remind me of the day we took our first big step towards Socialism.

"These groups and individuals either don’t know, or have forgotten, or are willfully misrepresenting the realities of creating a business and working in one.  I would ask Mr. Solomon, if I could, what make him, a customer service consultant, an expert upon what the realities  of creating a business are?

There are untold millions of would-be entrepreneurs in the U.S. hanging on, in quiet desperation, to deadening corporate jobs–because they can’t afford to leave.  Millions who understand the catastrophic consequences of boldly heading out to uncharted entrepreneurial territory… only to have someone in the family develop a chronic illness or life-threatening condition."  If anything is requiring millions of would be entrepreneurs to hang on in desperation their corporate jobs it is the pathetically slow recovery that the Obama's administration has allowed the economy during his tenure.  What with all the misspent 'stimulus' money which there never was a 'shovel ready job' waiting for it.  Regarding the "million" referred to I would suggest that this is nothing more that hyperbably calculated to give an impression that does not exist as I doubt very seriously that our economy could support millions of new businesses selling good and services, thousands maybe.
Or who already have — themselves, or their kid, or their spouse — developed an acute or chronic illness, and thus can’t afford to quit a corporate job without destroying their family’s savings within a few months.  So, in order to allow them to experment with whether or not they can start a successful business of their own the taxpayer should pay for his family's health care?
(And talk about an “inheritance tax” in today’s landscape if you die without sufficient insurance: The vast majority of healthcare expenses occurring in the last few months of life, underinsurance has been frequently leaving middle class and even upper middle class families suddenly and utterly destitute.)  People do understand this and take steps to avert the consequences.  They transfer property before going into a long term care situation, and otherwise mitigate the effects of their long term internment, it is just the ones whom the illness comes on early and unexpectedly in life that these burdens the most.
Imagine the creative and economic boon when all of this talent and energy is released from the corporate tethers that bind it.  It will be remarkable.  What does this man think led to the creation of all these corporations that he seems to despise so much if not from people's successful entrepreneurs?

The US is the only developed Western nation without a functioning safety net.  And people are falling hard without one.  I reckon he does not read this: Report: U.S. Spent $3.7 Trillion on Welfare Over Last 5 Years.  Would you not call that a safety net?  Source
And one more thing:
Next time your kid is concussed on the soccer field, wouldn’t it be nice if she could get treated in an ER that is being used only as an ER, not a clinic of last resort filled with the uninsured?  This situation exists because of the federal law requiring the hospitals to treat each and every person who come to their ER regardless of not only no ability to pay, but whether you are a citizen or not.  It is   not an insurance problem, it is a illegal problem.
Next time you go out for dinner, wouldn’t it be comforting to know your sushi wasn’t  prepared for you by someone whose hepatitis is undiagnosed, because they couldn’t afford to see a doctor?  Now this is a good example of fearmongraling.
These are the stakes, and they’re deadly serious.  Yes indeed they are serious, do you get to decide if and how much insurance you wish to buy and pay for, or does the government get to decide for you your coverage and level of care you receive and force you to pay for other's coverage.
