Safe Place

Oh the news today, oh boy.

There is no safe place!

Two shot dead in a Church

Praying, I am sure.

Laying in bed, a tree

Fell through his house,

Cracked his skull

And broke his back.

Ho Boy, they just ain't

No safe place.

Why it was just the other day

Twenty kids killed in school.

A school bus ran off a hill,

Massive pile-up

On the Interstate,

Lord knows how many dead.

~

And remember those

Just driving across a bridge

And fall into the Mississippi?

Lord, that just ain't no safe place.

~

A nice day at the beach,

I read a man got his leg bit off,

And jellyfish stung

A whole lot more.

~

Please just tell me

Where is a safe place?

Where can one be sure?

Where can one go?

~

Locked up in a max security

Prison, I read

A man stabbed to death

Surrounded by guards.

~

But all that as it may

Truly it is as they say

If you are born to hang

You cannot drown.
