Cold and dreary
The rain falls
Freezing
Coating the world in its ice.
~
A wonder to
Behold,
But oh so cold
Its embrace.
~
Under my roof
The only sound
A drip drip
As it comes down
~
But so heavy a weight
It lays on my world
An ounce at a time
Until!
~
Tree limbs snap
And crash to the ground.
With the sound
Of small arms fire.
~
Then,
With the report
Of a cannon,
A whole tree comes down.
~
Power is lost
As lines snap
Under the burden
Of the storm.
~
A storm
No raging winds.
No whipping rain,
No whirling snow.
~
Just a drizzling drip
In the cold artic air
Warm above
And cold below.
~
Oh, such a
Quite storm
Just a drip, drip, drip
Unceasingly.
~
Until it has had
Its way,
And coated my world
In its glitter.
~
Such a breath
Taking
Sight it leaves behind.
Awe inspiring!
~
Ice crystals,
Like diamonds,
Adorn
And glisten in the morning sun.
~
Hiding all
Damage done
Under its beauty
And quite grace.
~
Leaving fences to
Be repaired.
Generators to
Be started.
~
Roads to be cleared
Power to be restored
As life
Goes on.
